We’ve worked hard at our careers and raising our children, and many of us are still hard at work volunteering our time or caring for grandchildren. Goodness knows, from time to time we need to just get away from it all and relax. So be it.

Most folks know how lovely New England is in the fall. If you have never been here at the height of fall foliage, you will be astounded by the sheer numbers of colorful deciduous trees. As one guest from the northwest uttered in awe while gazing over the colorful Berkshires, “I had no idea… I didn’t realize it was like this.” Certainly this is a good time to stay at our western Massachusetts bed and breakfast.

There are lots of ways to enjoy autumn in New England, from walks in the woods to scenic drives. For golfers, this is perhaps the best time of year to throw your clubs in the car and visit golf courses throughout New England. Crisp autumn weather is perfect for golfing: not too hot, not too cold. And nothing is quite so enjoyable as a drink in front of the fire on a cool autumn evening after you have spent the day out in the fresh air, walking from hole to hole.
We are lucky to be in such close proximity to fantastic golf. Indeed, Greenock Country Club is just across the street from our Berkshires Bed and Breakfast, and Egremont Country Club and Pontusooc Golf Club are quite close as well. The Mark Morris Dance Group are skilled dancers and fabulous performers. They will perform at Tanglewood on August 5 and 6 2009, at 8:00 PM, very near our Massachusetts Bed and Breakfast. Joining them will be Emanuel Ax on the piano, Colin Jacobsen on the violin, and Yo-Yo Ma on the cello. The trio will play Haydn’s Horn Concerto No. 2 as the dancers perform “A Lake.” The world premier of “Visitation” will be performed to Beethoven’s Sonata No. 4 in C for cello and Piano, Op. 102, No. 1., and “Candleflowerdance” will be accompanied by Stravinsky’s Serenade in A for piano. Finally, the world premier of “Empire Gardens” will be danced to Ives Trio for piano, violin and cello.
It is a great honor for Tanglewood to be the site of two world premiers by Mark Morris. This talented choreographer from Seattle has created works for ballets and operas around the world. Yet perhaps it is no surprise that he chose the Tanglewood Festival to unveil two new performances; he is known for his musicality, and according to the Tanglewood website, “has been described as undeviating in his devotion to music.”
We at our Bed and Breakfast Lenox, MA are thrilled that the Mark Morris Dance Group will be at Tanglewood this August. We look forward to the performance.
