Newly carpeted and freshly repainted, Applegate Inn is ready for our Berkshires summer guests

Our luxury Berkshires bed and breakfast always strives to provide our guests with the warmest hospitality and pampering. Summer is a busy time for us. There are so many events and outdoor activities for vacationers in and around the beautiful Lee, MA area. It’s very important to us that the estate is well-prepared for the summer season. With that in mind, the inn has had all the carpets replaced. We’ve also done a great deal of repainting throughout the common areas as well as the individual guest rooms and suites. It gives the whole place a wonderful refreshed feeling, just in time for our summer guests!

During the warm summer months, the screened porch is a favorite place for guests to enjoy a Berkshires B&B gourmet breakfast. It’s been so popular, that we’ve added more tables so everyone can enjoy the fine food, admire the beautiful grounds and make pleasant conversation with friends both old and new.

With all the Berkshires summer cultural events in full swing, our rooms have been booking up very quickly. We highly encourage making your reservation as soon as possible to ensure you have your favorite room here at Applegate Inn. Conveniently close to Tanglewood, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Center, the Berkshire Theater and other major Berkshires area attractions, Applegate Inn is your place to stay during your Berkshires summer vacation. At any time of the year, we look forward to giving you a memorable and delightful experience of true Massachusetts hospitality!

The Pool is Open

May 30th, 2012 by Gail

The pool is open at our Berkshires Bed and Breakfast, and it’s a lovely 82 degrees. We encourage our guests to pack bathing suits, but if you forget yours, don’t despair. Several nearby outlet stores carry suits, as does the old fashioned department store in downtown Lee, Ben’s.

Pool is open at our Berkshires Bed and Breakfast

We keep our pool at the perfect temperature: 82 degrees.

Our gardens are in full bloom, with tree peonies and rhododendrons competing for the most colorful blossoms.

Isn’t it time you took a break from your routine? Come lounge by the pool at Applegate Inn.

Spring in the Berkshires

April 3rd, 2012 by Applegate Inn

Golfing in the Berkshires

Golf in the Berkshires this spring.

We certainly have had spring weather here at our Berkshires Bed and Breakfast. It was in the 80s not long ago, then we had a freeze. If you are planning to spend a few days with us in the near future, be sure to pack both sweaters and shorts!

Crazy weather aside, spring is here. We know, because Greenock Golf Course, which is across the street from our Bed and Breakfast in the Berkshires, is now open. They’re running their spring rates, which are quite reasonable.

Spring is a great time to leave the city and spend a few days golfing in the country of Western Massachusetts. The greens aren’t crowded, and it is rarely uncomfortably hot or cold. Come with your spouse or come with your golfing buddies.

Spend your days trying to get the little ball in the tiny holes, and spend your evenings sipping wine and nibbling cheese at the Applegate Inn. Relax in our parlor or lounge on our screened porch or by the pool.

You may want to spend an afternoon in a local museum. It’s always fun to revisit the past with a trip to the Norman Rockwell Museum in nearby Stockbridge, where there is currently a great exhibit on the portraits of Everett Raymond Kinstler. The Berkshire Museum in Pittsfield is also a fun place to visit, with it’s varied exhibits on ancient history, art, and natural history.

Spring is a lovely time in the Berkshires, whether you spend your time golfing, visiting museums, hiking, or simply relaxing. Come see for yourself.

Happy 2012 from the Berkshires

Champagne.
We’ve had another great year at our Berkshire B and B, and as in the past, it’s thanks to all of our wonderful guests. We so enjoy seeing old friends, making new friends, and welcoming you all to our Massachusetts inn.

Without you, we’re nothing; and so we raise our glasses high and say,

“Happy New Year!”

On the window sill of one of our guest rooms, a robin has built her nest. Last week, four tiny eggs hatched into four tiny birds. The mother comes and goes regularly bringing them food.

Berkshires Spring Arrives, Summer Soon to Follow

May 12th, 2008 by Applegate Inn

Spring has arrived early this year in the Berkshires with consistently good weather and temperatures in the 70’s.
Len has even played golf 4 times already.
But mostly we are very busy at Applegate preparing for summer.
Gloria has set up the porch with some new furnishings and lighting and the gardens have been cleaned up and are starting to sprout.
The pool is even open now and will be ready and heated for swimming in a few days.
John, our handyman and Len have been roaming the property in our golf cart cleaning things up from the winter.
Several of the summer cultural venues have announced their schedules and it looks like it will be an exciting season.
We have gotten our tickets already for Tanglewood and Jacobs Pillow Dance Festival.
We are studying the Barrington Stage and Stockbridge Theater schedules and will be getting those tickets soon as well. The Williamstown Theater looks very interesting as well and we may go there for a couple of plays.
Mostly though, Spring is a miracle of rebirth and regreening of the landscape.
It is something we love and look forward to each year.
