Winter Bliss in the Berkshires

January 26th, 2011 by Applegate Inn

It’s cold in the Northeast these days. We imagine that folks in the city – be in Boston, New York, Hartford, or some other place – are bundled into themselves, swathed in scarves, hats and winter coats as they trudge from one warm interior to the next.

No so here at our Lenox MA Bed and Breakfast.

Glorious winter in the Berkshires.

Oh, it’s cold here too, to be sure. But cold in the country feels different than cold in the city. The wind doesn’t gather up its strength to blast between skyscrapers and knock you down here – it spreads out over snow covered fields and blows through forests, making leafless trees dance.

Yes, winter in the Berkshires is the stuff of poetry.

Come see for yourself. Be spontaneous, and enjoy savings with our Lee Bed and Breakfast Last Minute Special. Plan ahead, call a friend, and stay for a while. Embrace the cold while you’re here, and delve into it with skis or snowshoes; it makes sitting by the fire so much better.

Skiing Catamount

January 3rd, 2011 by Applegate Inn

Catamount Ski Area in Great Barrington, MA, is just 30 minutes from our luxury Bed and Breakfast Berkshires. As of this writing there are 24 out of 33 trails open and 4 out of 6 lifts carrying skiers to the top. A couple of the trails are not groomed and moguls are already forming. It looks to be a terrific season.

Skiing at Catamount Ski Area

The blizzard that ushered out 2010 up and down the eastern seaboard certainly whetted appetites for snow sports. While cross country skiers had a heyday in Central Park, downhill skiers and snowboarders could only dream of distant mountains. Well, now the roads are clear and the mountains await.

Catamount is a terrific ski area on the Massachusetts / New York border. Travelers who can be spontaneous may take advantage of $27 daytime lift tickets through Friday this week. In addition, we offer a discount to spur of the moment guests of our luxury Berkshires Bed and Breakfast; call within 24 hours of your arrival and receive 15% off your entire stay. A little spontaneity can go a long way towards making travel more affordable.

If you feel exhausted and worn out after a whirlwind holiday season, time spent at our Bed and Breakfast Berkshires may be just what you need. Ski Catamount and let the fresh air and powder invigorate you. What a wonderful way to begin a new year.

You’re Special Enough for a Spa Day

September 27th, 2010 by Applegate Inn

Many of our guests live in the city. They drive to our Berkshires bed and breakfast from Boston, Hartford, and New York City. They come for fresh air and quiet country evenings, to take long walks in the woods or to ski. These guests crave time in the country and they need it, but most live in the city because they love city life; for them, the area surrounding our Lenox MA b&b is ideal because it boasts cultural attractions, fine dining, and amenities that would make any city proud.

Our Spa Special takes advantage of our close proximity to Soul Spa, in Lee. Soul Spa offers everything a metropolitan spa offers these days, but you don’t need to fight traffic or squish yourself into a subway to get there: guests may walk the .6 miles from our inn to the spa (breathing in fresh air and admiring fall foliage as they go).

Once there, indulge in body scrubs and holistic baths, full body massages or facials. Uncover the healing powers of Shiro Dhara and Ayurvedic Rejuvenation, or try one of Soul Spa’s Unique Therapies, such as the Rain Forest Rejuvenation. We confidently recommend Soul Spa to any guests in need of serious rest, relaxation, and of course, rejuvenation. Guest of our bed and breakfast Berkshires receive a 10% discount.
