Berkshire International Film Festival 2016Get set for the 11th annual Berkshire International Film Festival – June 2nd through June 5th, 2016 – featuring Yo-Yo Ma, Bruce Dern, Karen Allen, Brian De Palma, Noah Baumbach, Gregory Crewdson, and Jake Paltrow!

Every year, the Berkshire International Film Festival brings the best in independent films and filmmakers to the Berkshires to showcase their work to an engaged audience that any cinephile would be excited to be a part of!

Growing in popularity with each year, this year’s Festival was included in the 2016 TOP 10 Summer Events for Massachusetts, along with such major events as Jacob’s Pillow Dance and Tanglewood. It has also attracted an unprecedented collection of celebrities, attesting to its increased stature in the industry.

Berkshire International Film Festival 2016 plans to screen 26 documentaries, 26 narratives, and 17 short films over four days in Great Barrington at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center and Triplex Cinema, and in Pittsfield at the Beacon Cinema.

2016 Berkshire International Film Festival Highlights

June 2
7pm – Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center – “Music of Strangers — Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble.” Screening followed by Q&A with Yo-Yo Ma.

June 3
7pm – Beacon Cinema – “Life, Animated,” a jury winner at 2016 Sundance Film Festival that also was shown at the recent Tribeca Film Festival in New York.

June 4
12:30pm – Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center – “A Year By the Sea,” starring Karen Allen in a drama based on the novel by Joan Anderson.

7pm – Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center – Special Tribute to Academy Award-nominated actor Bruce Dern. Dern turns 80 on June 4 and will be receiving BIFF’s Achievement in Film Award as well as discuss his career with filmmaker Doug Trumbull.

June 5
11am – Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center – “Becoming Mike Nichols,” a filmed conversation between the notable film and theater director and theater director Jack O’Brien, followed by a discussion led by Nichols’ first assistant director, Mike Haley.

7pm – Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center – “De Palma,” a documentary about the idiosyncratic Hollywood director, co-directed by Noah Baumbach and Jake Paltrow. Teh screening will be followed by Q&A with filmmakers, moderated by Gregory Crewdson.
