Chesterwood is the country estate of Daniel Chester French (1850-1931). If the name doesn’t ring a bell, his works certainly will. French is the sculptor of the iconic Abraham Lincoln found inside the Lincoln Memorial, the Concord Minuteman, and many other famous works.
Located in Glendale near Stockbridge, Massachusetts, the Chesterwood estate was donated to the National Trust for Historic Preservation, which now operates the 122 acre estate as a museum and sculpture garden. Beyond Chesterfest, Chesterwood hosts numerous events and programs throughout the year.
2016’s Chesterfest concerts have artists on stage at 6pm, rain or shine. Chesterwood grounds open at 5pm the night of the concerts. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs to spread out on the lawn. Concessions on site will consist of the Berkshires’ Wandering Star Craft Brewery beer and Smokey Sweet BBQ.
