Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival is America’s longest-running international dance festival. The Pillow Dance festival has filled Berkshire summers with a wealth of dance performances, workshops, and more since 1932.
The 85th anniversary Pillow Dance Festival promises even more excitement. More than 200 free performances are on the schedule, along with numerous special and members-only events.
Highlights of the 2017 Pillow Dance Festival ticketed performances include:
The Miami City Ballet, the Paul Taylor Dance Company, The Washington Ballet, and UK-based artist Aakash Odedra. Camille A Brown, 2016 Jacob’s Pillow Dance Award recipient, returns and Eiko Otake presents a special, limited engagement piece.
The free and always popular Inside/Out performances will be back for Pillow Dance 2017. The performers include both established and emerging dance companies. Past performances have included classical ballet, contemporary, tap, hip-hop, flamenco, swing, and many international styles. Audiences are encouraged to interact and enjoy the shows as a community and each performance is followed by a brief Q&A session.
Beyond all the amazing performances, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival will keep you busy with classes, talks & tours, and exhibits. Plus, you’re on National Historic Landmark grounds! Take a look around, explore, there are even 30-minute walking tours. Hungry? Feel free to have a picnic on the grounds or dine at one of the on-site restaurants.
