Berkshire Botanical Garden

Welcome spring during your getaway to the Berkshires with a visit to the Berkshire Botanical Garden! The Garden grounds open for the season on May 1st with a full lineup of classes, workshops, and other special events for 2022.

Spring has definitely sprung. The grounds around our Berkshires bed and breakfast are alive with birdsong, blossoms, and lush new growth. We have planted a wide variety of flowers so that we can enjoy a cascade of blossoms all season long.

For even more natural beauty, especially in spring, you can’t beat a visit to Berkshire Botanical Garden. Better yet, this historic public garden is just a little over 6 miles from Applegate Inn.

A Museum of Living Things

The Berkshires are home to many excellent museums and that’s how Berkshire Botanical Garden (BBG) views itself: a 24 acre museum of living things. The facility is one of the oldest public display gardens in the Northeast with displays that are as functional as they are beautiful. The primary focus is on native plants with compatible, non-native species also included.

Berkshire Botanical Garden

Visitors will discover meticulously cared for garden exhibits, each one as delightful as the last in both form and function. More than 30 different, stunning displays can be found across the garden’s 24 acres, all connected by well-maintained walking paths with plenty of benches.

You’ll see herb and vegetable gardens, a variety of blooming shrubs, perennials, annuals,  even pond and rock gardens. Inside the beautiful and historic Fitzpatrick Conservatory, you’ll find the garden’s succulent and tropical collection. Berkshire Botanical Garden is also home to an arboretum of native and exotic trees as well as one of the finest topiary collections in North America.

Though the BBG’s display gardens are seasonal, the facility remains open year-round for classes, lectures, workshops, and special events through the year.
