Our little corner of New England was recently given a great honor by National Geographic Magazine. In a survey of 133 worldwide travel destinations, the Berkshires ranked 7th. We are both thrilled and humbled.
The decision was reached by a panel of over 400 well-seasoned travelers who based their decision on six criteria: “historic preservation, site management, geography, sustainable tourism, ecology, indigenous cultures, travel writing and photography, and archaeology” (see National Geographic for complete article).
We fell in love with the Western Massachusetts Berkshires, and moved here from New York City in 1999. We love the clean air, the small historic towns, and the vast array of cultural offerings. There are only a handful of places in this country where you can live in a beautiful rural setting and still have access to world-class restaurants, art and music. We truly enjoy sharing the wonders of this area with guests of our Berkshires lodging.
If you are thinking of offering a trip to someplace special this holiday season, look no further than the Berkshires. Come learn what the experts already know – that this is a truly wonderful place.
