Berktoberfest is an annual event centered around handcrafted beer, with the proceeds being donated to local charities. During its first five years, Berktoberfest managed to raise over $10,000, which was dispersed through Berkshire Brewing Heritage, a non-profit, educational organization created for just that purpose.
More than twenty craft breweries are scheduled to attend the festival with offerings running the gamut from stouts and porters to IPA’s, lagers, pilseners, and maybe even a barley wine or two. Confirmed breweries for this year’s event include: Olde Burnside, Baxter Brewing, Blatant Brewery, Blue Hills Brewery, Element, Berkshire Brewing Company, Jack’s Abby, High and Mighty, Green River Ambrosia, Cape Ann, and 3 local breweries – Barrington Brewery, Wandering Star and Big Elm Brewing.
Favorite local restaurants like Flavours, Brix, Baba Louie’s, Mission, Mad Jack’s, and Moe’s Tavern will also be taking part in the festival and the seven-piece, Jill Gallagher Band will once again provide live, good times music for all.
Berktoberfest is a wonderful opportunity not just sample to Berkshire-crafted beer, food, and music but also to support good causes with tendrils reaching out to the Berkshires community and beyond.
The festival, which is taking place at the newly designated, Upstreet Cultural District, has drawn 800 or more attendees in the past with marked growth in attendance every succeeding year; this year’s attendance is expected to continue the trend by being as large or larger than last year – so don’t miss it!
Saturday, October 5th from Noon ‘til 6pm.
