The 2018 Season for Lenox’ Shakespeare & Company

June 18th, 2018 by Corey A. Edwards

Lenox’ Shakespeare & Company 2018 SeasonFans of the Bard (or just good theater) visiting the Berkshires should do what they can to catch a Shakespeare & Company production. The 2018 season is already in full swing and will be until December 16th!

The Berkshires are known for a great many things, not the least of which is our incredible theater scene. No matter the time of year, it seems like the Berkshires’ stage is alive with music, dance, drama, or comedy.

Shakespeare & Company, founded in 1978, is a Berkshires’ cultural institution and one of the largest Shakespeare Festivals in the country. The company puts on a full program every year, May through December. While the Shakespeare & Company focus is primarily that of their namesake, works by other authors are also regularly included in each season. The 2018 season features 6 non-Shakespeare plays.

More than just performances, Shakespeare & Company also provides actor training programs for professionals and students, alike. The internationally recognized curriculum helps actors with vocabulary, focus, and intuition. Past alumni include such stars as Bill Murray, Keanu Reeves, Sigourney Weaver, Richard Dreyfuss, and Andie MacDowell.

Shakespeare & Company plays are held in a variety of venues in Lenox, most on the company’s Kemble Street campus. Concession stands offer light fare both before and after the shows. Both the Tina Packer Playhouse and the Elayne P. Bernstein Theater offer outdoor spaces with tables for a picnic, snack, or drink.
