Don’t Miss Naumkeag Winterlights 2019!

November 11th, 2019 by Corey A. Edwards

Naumkeag Winterlights 2019Get into the holiday spirit with a festive stroll through the Naumkeag gardens draped in a sparkling blanket of colorful holiday lights! Winterlights 2019 runs from November 21st to December 31st in Stockbridge, MA.

The historic, Gilded-Age “cottage” and grounds of the Naumkeag estate open seasonally between mid-April and early October. The museum and gardens are closed during the winter months with a few special exceptions. One of the most popular  exceptions occurs during the holidays every year – Winterlights!

Winterlights sees the already beautifully sculpted and meticulously maintained gilded-age gardens bedecked in thousands of multi-colored Christmas lights. Visitors stroll the gardens, taking in the wonderful sights and enjoying other seasonal fun like scavenger hunts, crafts, costumed characters, and yummy snacks.

Every year’s Winterlights display is unique and Winterlights 2019 promises to be bigger and better than ever. Even if you’ve been before, you’ve never seen this!

Visiting Naumkeag

5 Prospect Hill Rd, Stockbridge MA 01262
Joseph Hodges Choate, New York City attorney and ambassador to England, built Naumkeag in 1885 as a summer estate. The property stayed in the Choate family until 1958, when it was bequeathed to The Trustees of Reservations, an organization dedicated to preserving Massachusetts’ natural and historical places.

The original, gilded-age cottage and grounds are an architectural and landscaping masterpiece, not to mention a National Historic Landmark. Visitors can enjoy guided tours of both the exquisite home and gardens during their visit.

As I mentioned above, the grounds and home are open seasonally from mid-April to early October, with some special events in the off-season. Visit www.thetrustees.org for more information.
