October is Peak Color Month for Berkshires Fall Foliage

September 23, 2019 by Corey A. Edwards

Berkshires Fall FoliageIf you’re a “leaf-peeper,” or just a fan of stunning scenery, October is the peak month for viewing Berkshires fall foliage in western Massachusetts. Make plans to visit now, while the everchanging rainbow of autumn leaves is still up in the trees.

There is never a bad time to visit the Berkshires of Western MA but, when it comes to colorful views, you could pick a worse time than Autumn. The leaf-peeping season begins here in late September and tends to peak during mid-October, around Columbus Day weekend. That’s when our always picturesque landscape bursts to life with color. Reds, golds, oranges, browns, greens and all the tones in between.

Lucky for you, Applegate Inn is right in the middle of some of the area’s most gorgeous country. That’s the thing about the Berkshires. You don’t have to go anywhere to find beautiful fall foliage – it’s all around you!

If you’re up for a drive, however, the area offers endless possibilities.

Greenock Country Club – It’s Just Across the Road!

June 21, 2019 by Corey A. Edwards

Greenock Country ClubGreenock Country Club is one of America’s first golf courses. The club features a classic, 9-hole, Donald Ross designed course, clay tennis courts, a restaurant, and more. Plus it’s literally just across the road from our Berkshires bed and breakfast!

We’ve mentioned the convenience of our Lee, MA location before. So much of what brings people to the Berkshires is very easily accessed from Applegate Inn: Tanglewood, Jacobs Pillow, the Norman Rockwell Museum, The Clark Art Institute, Mass MOCA, and so much more.

But … did you realize our Berkshires B&B is just across the road from golf, tennis, and more?

Red Chair Travels to the Best Bed and Breakfasts in New England

December 13, 2012 by insideout

Red Chair has arrived in the Berkshires!

What, you may be asking, is the ‘Red Chair?’ Well, here is a description from the Red Chair Travels website that will clarify:

“The Red Chair is a symbol, a movement,  a phenomenon,  a happening.  Not just a simple wooden chair, this bright red vintage object is moving from place to beautiful place, exploring the best of New England all this year.

Move aside Flat Stanley, lie down garden gnome, hang yourself out to dry traveling pants… the Red Chair has arrived and captured the hearts and minds of America.  This humble desk accoutrement, crimson paint peeling and wooden legs wobbling, will journey around New England building connections, meeting innkeepers and generally exploring some of the most beautiful corners of our country.”

Sounds fun, right? The Red Chair’s visit to our Berkshires bed and breakfast was a great way for us to share with travelers all that the Berkshires has to offer as well as our thriving little community of Lee. Here are the places we brought the Red Chair:

Spend the 4th of July in the Massachusetts Berkshires

June 27, 2011 by Applegate Inn

New England is a wonderful place to spend the 4th of July. After all, some of the first stirrings of revolution took place in Massachusetts back in the 18th century. The 4th of July is always festive here at our Bed and Breakfast Lenox MA.

Guests of our Berkshires Bed and Breakfast are welcome to swim and lounge by the pool all day on the 4th. Yet those who want to get out and about may enjoy the following activities:

Shakespeare & Co. in Lenox puts on a free but heart-felt reading of the Declaration of Independence each July 4th. This year, the reading will be preceded by Revolutionary Moments, a collection of vignettes that divulge Shakespeare’s influence “on some of history’s most fascinating figures.” The afternoon concludes with a community barbecue. More information is available at Shakespeare & Co.

Learn the Samba at Jacob’s Pillow on July 2, 2011.

There will be many free events and classes offered at Jacob’s Pillow throughout the weekend. More information is available at Jacob’s Pillow.

The 2011 4th of July Pittsfield Parade will feature almost 140 marching units. It feels historically significant. More information is available at Pittsfield Parade.

We look forward to welcoming guests to our Berkshires lodging for the 4th of July, 2011.

Los Muñequitos de Matanzas at MASS MoCA

March 27, 2011 by Applegate Inn

Jacob’s Pillow and MASS MoCA are collaborating to bring Los Muñequitos de Matanzas to Hunter Center at MASS MoCA on April 30 and May 1, 2011. Spend that weekend at our luxury Berkshires Bed and Breakfast, enjoying the beautiful outdoors and a fantastic performance.

Los Muñequitos de Matanzas is one of the most popular bands in Cuba. The 16 drummers, vocalists and dancers fill the stage with movement and music. It is difficult to remain still while watching and listening to them. People of all ages will enjoy this show – not surprising, since the performers include three generations from one family.

Los Muñequitos de Matanzas has not been in the United States since they were nominated for a Grammy Award in 2001. We are lucky to have them perform so close to our Lee MA Bed and Breakfast.

For additional information, please visit MASS MoCA.

The Berkshires for Mother’s Day

April 28, 2010 by Applegate Inn

Mother’s Day is May 9, 2010. This year, why not give your mother a gift certificate to our Lenox MA bed and breakfast?

Cherish your mother

Everyone likes to get away from time to time, but some folks just don’t do it. They are busy, or they don’t want to spend the money, or they tell themselves, “Next year I will.” Help Mom live for the moment, and send her to our luxurious bed and breakfast Berkshires.

Let her decide when to travel: perhaps she would like to attend an event at Tanglewood this summer, or the Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival. Perhaps she longs to spend some time in the Berkshires this fall, when the woods are gloriously red, orange, and yellow. It’s up to her, once the gift certificate is in her hands.

Give Mom a special thanks for all she’s done for you throughout your life. A Gift Certificate to our Lenox Bed and Breakfast a nice way to show her how much you care.
