Taconic Sculpture Park – The Art of Roy Kanwit

If you’ve ever driven north through New York’s Columbia County on the Taconic Parkway, you may have noticed the giant white head overlooking the highway. No, you weren’t hallucinating. That’s just one of the many fascinating sculptures at Roy Kanwit’s Taconic Sculpture Park.
Roy Kanwit is a self-taught sculptor who has spent the last 40 years or so transforming his property into a sculpture garden.
The 3 acre yard is populated with more than 30 sculptures, many of them monumental in size. The pieces are made from a variety of materials, including marble, limestone, plaster, steel, and concrete.
